Heavy downpours possible Thurs. afternoon

OTTAWA – Environment Canada says heavy downpours are possible in Ottawa and other areas, Thursday afternoon.
The weather service issued a Special Weather Statement, early Thursday afternoon, saying 25 to 50 millimetres of rain in an hour or less was possible.
The Special Weather Statement covered Ottawa and Gatineau, as well as Brockville, Leeds and Grenville, Prescott and Russell, Cornwall and Morrisburg.
A very moist and unstable airmass was making conditions favourable for heavy rainfall. Environment Canada said a severe thunderstorm watch or warning could be a possibility, later in the day.
