Bluesfest takes a night off

OTTAWA – Rock n’ Roll Hall of Fame inductees Rush took over RBC Royal Bank Bluesfest Monday, headlining the main stage at Lebreton Flats.
The Canadian trio of Geddy Lee, Alex Lifeson and Neil Peart gave stellar musical performances, playing songs including Tom Sawyer, 2112 and Limelight. The trio was backed by a short film starring Jay Baruchel, pyrotechnics and a string ensemble.
Tuesday marks a much needed night off for tired music fans, some who’ve taken in Bluesfest night after night since it kicked off Thursday.
The break is short-lived; Wednesday’s acts include Mariana’s Trench, Animal Collective and headliners Weezer.
On Thursday, the Tragically Hip will headline the main stage and Kenny Wayne Shepherd will headline the River Stage.
The final weekend of Bluesfest features Great Big Sea and Matthew Good Friday and Bjork on Saturday, before Alice in Chains and B.B. King wrap things up on Sunday.
