Chateau Laurier up for sale

OTTAWA – One of Ottawa’s most well-known downtown hotels is for sale.

The Fairmont Chateau Laurier is up for bids, as owner Ivanhoe Cambridge looks to sell it along with the Fairmont Washington D.C. and several other hotels in Europe.

Ivanhoe Cambridge is selling off the hotels as it looks to shift away from the hospitality industry.

The Chateau Laurier was built in 1912 by the Grand Trunk Railway, and was officially opened that year by Prime Minister Sir Wilfred Laurier.
