Liberal candidate John Fraser campaigns in Heron Gate

OTTAWA – Liberal Candidate John Fraser was door-knocking in Ottawa South on Tuesday afternoon, trying to scoop up more votes ahead of Thursday’s byelection.
Fraser was joined by an army of volunteers as well as the Federal MP for the same riding, David McGuinty, as he tackled the Heron Gate neighbourhood.
“It’s like a box of chocolates, you never know what you’re going to get,” says Fraser, referring to knocking on strangers’ doors.
“But at the end of the day, when you knock on doors you find out what’s important to families.”
Fraser wastes no time when he’s campaigning, practically running through the streets, bounding up to potential supporters.
“I’ve lost about 20 lbs. which is great,” says Fraser, with a laugh.
A recent poll shows Progressive Conservative candidate Matt Young at the front of the race.
According to Forum Research, 48 per cent of people surveyed would vote for Young, as opposed to the 34 per cent who would cast a ballot for Fraser.
But the former Dalton McGuinty aid isn’t giving up.
“I know it’s close. So we’re going to work until election day, pulling out our vote,” says Fraser.
“I feel confident that we can be successful.”
