Environment Canada confirms Ontario’s 11th tornado

CARLETON PLACE, ON- Amongst the rain and thundershowers Thursday morning a small tornado was spotted west of the city.
The twister was seen south of Carleton Place near Highway 7.
Environment Canada is using an eye-witness account to confirm the funnel cloud.
There was no damage to trees or buildings, but there it was spotted with “visible rotation and evident from the cloud base to the ground.
The tornado was classified as an F-0 with maximum wind speeds at the ground of near 90 km per hour.
Environment Canada reports the tornado formed along the leading edge of a band of rainand thunderstorms which is why it didn’t show up on doppler radar.
