Mayflower to close in October

OTTAWA – Its bad news for fans of breakfast and late night fare along the Elgin Street strip: the Mayflower Restaurant and Pub is closing.
The establishment at Elgin and Cooper Streets, that’s been a staple in that neighbourhood for 35 years, will draw its last pint next month.
Bob Jones has been the manager for the last 25 years and tells 1310News, many celebrities stopped by. “Bo Diddley, Kiefer Sutherland, (former Prime Minister ) Paul Martin”.
Walter Krepski, 84, a polish immigrant who stowed away on a cargo ship in 1949 – took over the restaurant in 1977.
Negotiations to continue the lease had not been going well, so Krepski decided it was time to close up shop.
