Major development announced for Orleans

ORLEANS, Ont. – A $300-million development has been announced for Ottawa’s east end. The proposed Petrie’s Landing III will include office space, a banquet hall and meeting space.

Developer Brigil announced the development, near Trim Road and Highway 174, at Thursday’s Chamber of Commerce breakfast.

Bob Monette, the councillor for Orleans, says the development exceeds projections for job development in the area.

“We’ve made a huge announcement that will eventually bring two thousand jobs to Orleans,” Monette told 1310News. “I think the community will be very excited about it.”

Petrie’s Landing III will feature more than 450,000 square feet of office space, a banquet hall and a multi-purpose room to meet the growing needs of the community there.

Monette says this developement will help fix the poor jobs to residents ratio in his ward.

The project must go through an Official Plan review at city hall. It’s hoped construction can begin by the end of 2015.
