Fundrasier for family of Carleton Place woman killed in Mexico balcony collapse

CARLETON PLACE, Ont. – Shannon Amy Guy will be laid to rest Monday.

Amy, 24, was killed when the glass front of a hotel balcony in Mexico gave way.

Visitation was held over the weekend at the Alan R. Barker funeral home on McArthur Avenue in Carleton Place.

A funeral for Amy will be held Monday at 1:30 p.m. and donations to the Canadian Cancer Society would be appreciated by her family.

Meanwhile, Paul Guy’s employer The Brick is working with Carleton Refrigeration, Heating and Air Conditioning to support Paul and his two children.

The Brick has donated a freezer and community members are being asked to fill it with food, gift cards, diapers or wipes.

Donations are being accepted at Carleton Refrigeration, Heating and Air conditioning on Industrial Avenue in Carleton Place — starting Monday through Friday November 8, 2013.

Donations will be collected between 8 a.m. and 4 p.m., with the exception of October 30 and November 6 when drop off times will be pushed to 7 p.m.
