Airport Parkway bridge doomed to fail: review

OTTAWA – Heads may roll at the City of Ottawa after a third party review of the botched Airport Parkway pedestrian bridge project.
The document, released Tuesday night, shows miscommunication, a complete lack of communication and an unrealistic timeline led to delays and poor cost estimates.
The review will be discussed at length at the Finance and Economic Development Committee meeting on March 4, 2014.
The pedestrian bridge was originally set to be finished by the end of 2011, which was then pushed to November 2014.
Now, the original $6.9 million cost for the bridge has ballooned by another $4.5 million at least, with no completion date set.
