CHEO researchers make discovery in prevention of Type 2 Diabetes

OTTAWA – Researchers at the Children’s Hospital of Eastern Ontario are now closer to understanding the onset of Type 2 Diabetes.
Lead researcher at CHEO, Dr. Robert Screaton, and his team discovered a cellular pathway for keeping blood sugar levels low in pre-diabetic and obese people.
This discovery could help people from developing Type 2 Diabetes.
More than 2 million Canadians have Diabetes.
The research was published in the March issue of the journal Nature Cell Biology.
Dr. Screaton will be on Talk to the Hand with 1310’s Ed Hand Thursday morning at 10:45 a.m. to discuss the discovery.
