What’s open and closed on Easter weekend in the capital

OTTAWA – A weekend full of feasts and sweets means a weekend of closures around the region.

All LCBO and Beer Stores will be closed on Good Friday and Easter Sunday but will some are open on Easter Monday.  Click here to check individual store hours.

Most grocery stores and retail outlets are closed on Good Friday and Easter Sunday and will re-open  Easter Monday.

Banks will be closed on Friday and re-open Easter Monday.

In Gatineau, most stores and malls are open Easter Monday.

Ottawa City Hall and all seven Client Service Centres, including the Government Service Centres located at 110 Laurier Ave. west and 580 Terry Fox Dr., will be closed on Good Friday and Easter Monday. Business will resume as usual on Tues., April 22.

The City’s Provincial Offences Court, located at 100 Constellation Cres., will also be closed on Good Friday and Easter Monday. Business will resume as usual on Tuesday.

The City’s 3-1-1 Contact Centre will be open for urgent matters requiring the City’s immediate attention.

There will be no curbside green bin, recycling or garbage collection on Good Friday or Easter Monday. The collection of green bin, garbage and recycling materials will be delayed by one day for the week of April 21.

There will be no multi-residential recycling container collection. Recycling container collection will also be delayed by one day for the week of April 21. However, multi-residential garbage container collection is not delayed and will take place on its regular scheduled day.

The Trail Waste Facility is closed on Good Friday and Easter Monday

OC Transpo will operate on a Sunday schedule on Good Friday.
On Easter Monday buses will run on a reduced schedule with the cancellation of all 600 numbered school routes and supplementary school trips.

OC Transpo Sales and Information Centres will be closed Easter Monday with the exception of the Rideau Centre office, which will be open Easter Monday from 9:30 a.m. to 9 p.m.

The OCTranspo Information Centre will be open from 7 a.m. to 9 p.m. on Easter Monday. The OC Transpo Customer Relations Department will be closed.

In Gatineau, STO is operating a reduced weekday schedule on Easter Monday.

Many pools, fitness centres and some arenas will be open Easter Monday for public swimming, skating and fitness classes with modified schedules.

Many registered programs at swimming pools, community centres and arenas are cancelled on Easter Monday, however, clients should check with their facility to confirm, as some exceptions will apply.

The Billings Estate National Historic Site, Pinhey’s Point Historic Site and Cumberland Village Heritage Museum are open for Easter events.  Arts centres, archives, galleries and theatres will be closed on Easter Monday.

City-operated Child Care Centres will also be closed on Easter Monday and all branches, departments and services of the Ottawa Public Library will be closed Easter Monday.

The Ottawa Public Health Information Line and AIDS line are closed Easter Monday. The Sexual Health Centre at 179 Clarence St, is also closed.

All dental clinics are closed.
