Orleans fire causes $400K damage

OTTAWA – Two people have been displaced by a fire in Ottawa’s east end Sunday.
Crews were called to a home at 1587 Verchere Street in Orleans just after 11 a.m. for a garage fire.
The fire caused extensive smoke damage inside the home, as well as siding damage to the neighbouring home from the heat.
A vehicle parked inside the garage was also destroyed.
The cause has not been determined, but is not considered suspicious.
Damage to both homes is pegged at $400,000.
