Convicted robber arrested in Ottawa

OTTAWA – A convicted killer and armed robber wanted for breach of parole was arrested in Ottawa on Monday without incident.

A Canada-wide warrant was issued for Andre Mayer, 56, last Friday by the provincial Repeat Offender Parole Enforcement Squad in Toronto.

Mayer was serving a six-year sentence for armed robbery after robbing a Scotiabank on Alta Vista Drive in 2010.

Mayer was sentenced to 10 years in prison for manslaughter in 1983 after he admitted to participating in a pizza shop robbery where a man was shot and killed.
