GATINEAU – The Canadian Union of Public Employees representing 350 casino dealers in Gatineau said Sunday a labour deal has been agreed to in principle with Loto-Québec.
The 350 dealers at Lac-Leamy, along with 750 in Montreal, have been without a contract since March 2013 and said they would walk off the job if one was not in place by July 31.
According to CUPE, the tentative deal was reached late Saturday night and will be voted on by members on Tuesday and Thursday.
The details of the deal are not known but in a release, Jean-Pierre Proulx of CUPE said details will be made public, “once members have had a chance to vote on it.”
The labour dispute was over salaries and hours for casual employees, while the union was also seeking a two per cent wage increase per year over five years.
Dealers held a one-day walk-out in Gatineau and Montreal earlier in July while management filled their positions for the day.
