Libyan man charged in downtown stabbing

OTTAWA – Ottawa police have laid charges against a Libyan man after an early morning stabbing Wednesday on Cartier Street.
Ibrahim Mugassabi, 21, has been charged with aggravated assault and possession of a weapon.
The 28 year-old victim, also from Libya, is still recovering from his injuries in hospital and is in stable condition.
The man was stabbed several times and had his throat slashed in an altercation outside the Embassy Hotel and Suites.
Police say the two are both amputees and former revolutionary fighters in the Libyan Civil War.
They were visiting Canada for prosthetic treatment.
