Holt Renfrew to close Ottawa store

TORONTO — Holt Renfrew has announced it is closing stores in Ottawa and Quebec City at the end of January 2015.

More than than 150 employees will lose their jobs.

The Ottawa store, located on Sparks Street, has 72 employees. The Quebec City store employs 85.

Holt Renfrew’s president, Mark Derbyshire, said those employees have been devoted through many successful years, and the company will be dedicated to supporting them through the transition.

Holt Renfrew currently has more than 2,600 employees, and expects overall levels of employment to grow through 2017 to support national expansion plans.

New stores are expected to open in Mississauga, Ont. and in Montreal. Updates are expected to flagship stores in Vancouver and Calgary.
