CD Warehouse to close after more than 23 years

OTTAWA – An award-winning Ottawa indie music store is closing its doors. CD Warehouse will close this spring after more than 23 years serving music and movie fans.

“Thank you to all of our loyal customers who have treated us so well for 23 years,” co-founders Stephen Bleeker and Janice McDonald said in a statement released Wednesday. “The next six months will be our way to honour and celebrate what has been an incredible journey for all of us at CD Warehouse and for Ottawa.”

CD Warehouse has been recognized with two national awards for Top Independent Music Store in Canada — once in 2002 and again in 2009.

There have been numerous in-store performances and autograph signings from artists including Shania Twain, Foo Fighters, Jann Arden and Colin James.

The St. Laurent CD Warehouse location already closed, leaving two remaining stores; the original flagship location at 1383 Clyde Avenue at Merivale Road in Nepean, and the other at 499 Terry Fox in the Signature Centre in Kanata.
