Taxes, transit key issues for Ottawa municipal election: Forum Research

OTTAWA – Transit and taxes are the key issues for the upcoming municipal election, according to a new Forum Research poll for the Citizen.

Of the just over 1,000 people polled, 22 per cent said property tax issues would mostly likely influence their vote. 17 percent said transit is the key election issue, while 16 percent said jobs and growth need to be addressed first.

As far at the mayoral race, 44 per cent of respondents said they would be voting for incumbent Mayor Jim Watson. His closest rival is Mike Maguire with 17 per cent support.

The Ottawa municipal election will be held October 27, 2014.
