Chemical spill closes pool

A man, 59, was taken to hospital in serious condition after a chemical spill at the Plant Recreation Centre, on Somerset Street West.
Ottawa Paramedics told 1310News the man was exposed to chlorine-based fumes. Three other workers were also treated for minor irritation in their upper airways.
The chemical spill happened just after noon on Tuesday.
The building was evacuated and closed for the rest of the day. Non-pool activities will resume Wednesday, but the pool will remain closed.
