OTTAWA – A new era will begin for the Ottawa Senators when the puck drops on the 2014-2015 season.
The Sens are in Music City Thursday taking on the Nashville Predators.
The Sens enter the season with new captain Erik Karlsson, and fresh off signing Bobby Ryan to a 7-year extension, so hopes are high.
However, there are still a number of things the boys need to work on if they want to make the playoffs this season.
“Goaltending is going to be a big one,” Sportsnet reporter Kyle Bakaiskas told 1310News. “Can they eliminate the mistakes as much as possible, the mistakes that we continually saw — the giveaways, the turnovers in their own end?”
Expectations are also high for new dad Kyle Turris as he tries to fill the offensive shoes of the departed Jason Spezza.
Meantime, British Columbia native Curtis Lazar, 19, will get a nine-game chance to prove he belongs in the NHL.
