Extreme cold, frostbite warnings issued for Ottawa

OTTAWA – Two cold-weather warnings have been issued for the capital, as frigid temperatures get even colder overnight.
Environment Canada has issued an extreme cold warning for Ottawa, Gatineau and eastern Ontario because of a cold front crossing southern Ontario.
The cold front, combined with strong northerly winds, are expected to cause wind chill values near or below -35C, Wednesday afternoon. Wind chill values could get as cold as -40C, Wednesday night into Thursday morning.
Extreme cold warnings were formerly known as wind chill warnings.
Ottawa Public Health upgraded its earlier frostbite advisory to a frostbite warning, effective Wednesday. Public health issues frostbite warnings when wind chills of -35C or colder are forecast.
