Universal Transit Pass Agreement becomes official

OTTAWA – The Universal Transit Pass agreement between the Algonquin College Students’ Association and OC Transpo becomes official on Friday.
Once it’s fully-adopted in September, the transit pass will be mandatory for all eligible full-time students at Algonquin.
Each eligible student will be assessed a U-Pass fee of up to $199.00 per semester.
In 2012, OC Transpo put an age limit on student bus passes, which meant many Algonquin students had to pay the full adult price for a bus pass.
The Algonquin Students’ Association worked with OC Transpo to come up with this new plan, similar to one already in place with Carleton University.
