Record-breaking December temperatures continue

OTTAWA — More mild weather is in the forecast through the weekend, and temperatures are on-track to shatter another record, Friday.
The hottest December 11 on record is 9.4 degrees, set in 1971. The Guaranteed High for Friday is 12.
“With the rain, it tends to cool us a bit but, my goodness, it is so mild this morning,” said Jill Taylor, 1310 NEWS meteorologist. “So yes, likely another record-setting day for us.”
Thursday’s temperatures, up to 11.1 degrees at the Ottawa Airport, shattered a 69-year-old record. The previous record for December 10 was 10.0 degrees, set in 1946.
More mild temperatures are in the forecast for Saturday and Sunday, and Monday is looking like another record-breaking day, before things become more seasonal.
“All good things must come to an end, so it’s not going to stick around for the whole month of December,” Jill chuckled. “In fact, next week it will be noticeably cooler, and I’ve got my eye on some flurries…as we head closer to Christmas.”
It’s still too soon to say if there will be snow on December 25, but Jill says we can’t totally rule out the chance of a white Christmas.
