Provincial police are warning people to be cautious if they are planning to venture out on ice on Ontario lakes.
Police say ice is never 100 per cent safe as it can change dramatically in response to weather and water conditions.
They say parents should not allow children to play on or near ice covered bodies of water unless supervised by an experienced, safety-conscious adult, who is familiar with local conditions and currents.
And OPP say proper use of safety equipment can reduce the risks of travelling over ice covered bodies of water.
