Central library project attracts Library and Archives Canada

OTTAWA – The Ottawa Public Library and Library and Archives Canada have announced they’re working together on a “partnership opportunity” for a new central library branch.
It’s a big idea for Ottawa’s new central library, and it’s causing a lot of excitement. The announcement came Tuesday evening after a library board meeting.
Library and Archives Canada recently approached the library board with the idea.
The size and scope of the project is still to be hammered out. Library board chair Tim Tierney says it’s still not known how it could affect the size, design, location or cost of the building.
Tierney says a partnership with the federal government has a lot of potential.
