Frostbite warning this weekend

OTTAWA–It’s the first frostbite warning this winter for the capital region: Exposed skin can freeze in under ten minutes.
Ottawa Public Health officials say if you take proper steps — you can still enjoy the outdoors.
This time last winter we’d already seen two frostbite warnings issued by ottawa public health.
The warning means extra precautions are in order to ward off frostbite, and to raise awareness of the risks of hypothermia.
Extreme Weather Lead for OPH, Martha Robinson, on the signs of frostbite:
“A prickly feeling in your skin, pinkness starting, red skin, White patches of heard skin and pain. you might feel that tingly painful feeling that means your skin is starting to freeze. You need to get inside and warm it up slowly.”
for hypothermia — slow reactions — stumbling, mumbling — the person may appear intoxicated.
Robinson says healthy active people who layer up should have no troubles enjoying the outdoors this weekend
