Girls in ‘racist’ Gap ad are apparently sisters

The two girls at the heart of a heated online debate this week about racism are actually sisters.

On Tuesday, Gap Kids issued an apology for an ad that pictures 9-year-old Lucy Dinknesh Lubensky standing next to an older white girl, whose arm is resting on Lucy’s head.

Actress Brooke Smith from Grey’s Anatomy and Silence of the Lambs spoke out about the issue.

According to BET.com, Lucy is Smith’s adopted daughter, and the girl resting her arm on Lucy’s head is her sister, Fanny.
