Bleeker Audio & Video closing up shop after 56 years

OTTAWA — After 56 years in business, Bleeker Audio & Video is closing up shop.

“Over the last number of years, the electronics retail business has really had a lot of changes,” Rob Bleeker told 1310 NEWS. “Our business plan just isn’t what it used to be…so we felt it’s time now. We want to close the store on our terms, not get to the point where we’re forced out of business.”

“We’re so thankful for everyone that’s been customers here with us,” Bleeker continued. “That’s the part we’re gonna miss the most…the relationships we had with those people.”

He says he and his father Hans Bleeker will likely keep the store at Clyde and Merivale open until sometime in June, since they have about $1-million in inventory left to sell.
