Local health unit issues bootleg fentanyl warning

The Leeds, Grenville and Lanark District Health Unit is out with a warning that bootleg fentanyl is being sold in the area in both pure powder and pressed pill forms.
Bootleg fentanyl pressed into pills is known to be sold as both oxycontin and heroin, and may also go by the street names of faded 80’s, fake oxy’s or K22’s.
Meantime, bootleg fentanyl powder has been detected in the cocaine supply in the area.
Cocaine cut with powdered fentanyl is of particular concern, as most people using it wouldn’t realize it was cut with the drug.
That places them at a much higher risk of overdosing.
Naloxone is a drug used to reverse fentanyl overdoses, and it’s avalaible to people who are at high risk of overdosing. Kits can be picked up at your local health unit.
