OPP long weekend blitz

As thousands of drivers hit Ontario roads this long weekend, Ontario Provincial Police want you to know they’re watching.

OPP officers are cracking down on motorists who fail to move over for emergency vehicles.

More than 2,000 charges were laid last year under Ontario’s Move Over Law, the highest number since 2008.

OPP expect heavy civic holiday traffic this weekend, making it particularly important for drivers to obey the law.

Breaking the law carries a fine of $400 to $2,000 and three demerit points.
