There has been frustration from Valerie’s family over the Gatineau Police investigation.
In 2014, her grandmother started an online petition in the hopes of getting get Sûreté du Québec to take over the case.
In the petition, Huguette Leblanc expressed her concern that police in Gatineau don’t have the experience or resources for the case, and that their lack of communication with the family is frustrating.
In response to the family, Gatineau Police said while they understand the frustration, they do have the expertise to handle the case and are working with provincial police.
