Ottawa firefighters worked to stabilize a damaged bank building that was driven into by a vehicle.
It happened on Friday afternoon, shortly before 4 p.m. Fire services received the call from Ottawa police to respond to the Billings Bridge Plaza, where a vehicle had crashed into a building.
When firefighters arrived on scene, they confirmed structural damage to the exterior wall of the TD Bank, with the vehicle entering through a window area.
Crews shut down the vehicle and established scene security.
A second individual on scene reported that their car had been struck by the same vehicle prior to it entering the building.
No injuries were reported.
Firefighters identified significant damage, leading to concerns about the structural integrity of the building.
The Structural Collapse Team developed and implemented and stabilization plan to support a compromised brick wall façade. Responders say there was no damage to the electrical conduits. Building management was advised that a sprinkler had been exposed to freezing temperatures on the exterior.
Firefighters cleared the scene shortly after 6 p.m. Ottawa police continue to investigate the cause of the collision.
