Former teacher facing more charges

OTTAWA — The Ottawa Police Service Sexual Assault and Child Abuse Section has laid more charges against a former teacher within the Ottawa-Carleton District School Board.
Robert Clarke, 72, of Morrisburg, is now charged with two additional counts of Gross Indecency, after two people came forward in response to an Ottawa Police news release in June.
On June 15, police charged Clarke with Sexual Assault.

The alleged offences happened between 1973 and 1992, while the accused was in the course of his duties as a teacher.
Clarke will be appearing in court on October 24.
Investigators are concerned there could be more victims, and the investigation will continue.
“The Ottawa Police will respect a victim’s wishes to pursue or not pursue the matter before the courts,” said Staff Sergeant Angela McDade, with the Ottawa Police Service Sexual Assault and Child Abuse Section. “The reporting of these incidents by victims to police is key for investigators to identify suspects and determine crime trends.”
