Algonquin students experience what it’s like to live outdoors for 24 hours

OTTAWA – A group of Algonquin students will spend a full day outdoors to raise money and awareness for homelessness in our city.

For the 12th annual 24 Hours of Homelessness event, 24 second-year students will experience what it’s like to be homeless by living outdoors and panhandling.

Students will be outdoors in Minto Park — from 2 p.m. Friday until 2 p.m. Saturday.

50 per cent of money raised goes to support Operation Come Home, 40 per cent goes to support the Community and Justice Services program, while the remaining 10 per cent goes to support the class fund.
