OTTAWA — Two separate motorcycle crashes within an hour and a half have killed one man and sent two others to hospital.
The first collision happened around 5:30 p.m. Sunday, at Eagleson and Fernbank, when a car and motorcycle collided.
The 59-year-old man on the bike was in cardiac arrest when paramedics arrived. He was in critical condition in hospital, but died overnight.
Ottawa Police have identified the motorcyclist as George “Rick” Ellas, of Ottawa.
The driver of the car, a 47-year-old man, said he was experiencing chest discomfort and was taken to hospital in stable condition.
The second crash, also between a motorcycle and a car, happened around 7 p.m. at Baseline and Clyde.
The man on the motorcycle, in his 40’s, suffered what paramedics called severe, life-threatening, multi-system trauma. An off-duty paramedic was first on the scene and provided care both at the scene and in the ambulance on the way to hospital.
The driver of the car, who’s been described as an elderly woman, had minor injuries from her seatbelt.
