Man charged in Joshua Briere murder due in court

OTTAWA – The man charged in the stabbing death of Joshua Briere is due in court for a bail hearing Tuesday afternoon.
Police believe Brandon Ethier stabbed Briere after a fight got out of hand during a birthday party in the early morning hours of Oct. 22.

Briere, 26, died from stab wounds to his torso after the fight at his apartment on Clyde Avenue.
According to the Citizen, Ethier was rushed to hospital for an overdose a short time after the altercation. He was arrested in hospital the next day and taken into custody when he was discharged.
It marked the 16th murder in Ottawa in 2016.
