Boy with bow and arrow, hatchet arrested in Barrhaven

OTTAWA – Police have arrested a youth after reports of a male brandishing a bow and arrow near a Barrhaven school Wednesday afternoon.
According to the Citizen, a video was recorded by a motorist in the area that showed a boy walking along a sidewalk on Kennevale Drive, east of Cedarview Road, at about 3:45 p.m.
The paper says the video showed a boy walk towards a police car and aim the bow and arrow at the cruiser before walking away, opening his backpack and taking out a hatchet.
School was already out for the day at the time of the incident, but the Ottawa-Carleton District School Board says some students were attending after-school programs at Mary Honeywell Elementary School.
The school was put on precautionary lockdown, which was lifted shortly after the suspect was arrested, and students were sent home.
No injuries were reported and police have not yet provided information on what charges may be laid.
