Quebec City mosque reopens amid protests against Islamaphobia

QUEBEC – Unity and tolerance was the message this weekend as the Quebec mosque that was the scene of last weekend’s shooting rampage reopened.
Worshippers from the mosque led hundreds of Quebec City residents on a march yesterday where they chanted slogans such as “All Canadians! All Quebecers!” and “No to violence, no to hate.”
Six men were killed and 19 others injured in last Sunday’s shooting.
The mosque reopened Saturday and after yesterday’s march about 30 men returned to the mosque for Sunday evening prayers.
Inside the mosque, bouquets of flowers were placed around the dried bloodstains that still dotted the green-and-beige-striped carpet.
Condolence cards sent from across Canada were tacked to the walls.
The suspect in the case is due to appear in court later this month.
