Crews respond to second fire at Barrhaven home

OTTAWA – Crews responded to a second fire at a Barrahven address Wednesday morning.

Neighbours called 911, reporting smoke visible from the windows and roof of 19 Westwinds Place.

A working fire was announced on arrival, and crews had the fire under control by 7:40 a.m.

The home was boarded up because of a basement fire at the address late Monday night.

Around 11:45 p.m. Monday, crews responded to the home after a 911 call from the resident reporting a fire in the basement.

A working fire was declared when crews arrived to find heavy smoke conditions inside the front door.

Family members, including a dog, had already evacuated when crews arrived Monday night

The fire escalated to a two-alarm and crews had to take a defensive approach to battling the place.

There were no injuries in either fire.
