Funeral for Ottawa teen who died of apparent overdose

OTTAWA – The community around All Saints Catholic High School in Kanata is in mourning, following the death of a grade 9 student who died from an apparent drug overdose.

Chloe Kotval, 14, died on Tuesday, two days after her mother found her unconscious in her bedroom. Doctors at CHEO concluded she had suffered complete and irreversible loss of brain function.

Her parents, through a statement, say Chloe had been “struggling with typical teenage issues in recent weeks” and they’d sought help for her through a counsellor.

A funeral will be held for Chloe this weekend.

Her family donated Chloe’s organs, and have asked that in lieu of flowers, donations be made to the Trillium Gift of Life Network for organ donations or to the Northern Obaco Potcake Rescue.
