Man charged in a series of retail robberies

OTTAWA — A 34-year-old man is facing charges in a series of retail robberies, dating back to last November.
A man with a knife demanded cash at a convenience store at Place D’Orleans on February 10, but fled empty-handed when the person working at the store wasn’t able to open the register quickly.
On February 13, a suspect was spotted on an OC Transpo bus and was arrested without incident.
The investigation following the arrest led to the suspect being charged in relation to six other robberies:
– 1363 Woodroffe Avenue LCBO – November 1, 2016
– 200 block of Rideau Street, Gas Station – November 2, 2016
– 300 block of Montreal Road, Motel – November 3, 2016
– 400 block Cumberland Street, Convenience Store – November 4, 2016
– 100 block of Rideau Street, Convenience Store – January 9, 2017
– 300 block of Bank Street, Clothing Shop – February 7, 2017
Kevin Magoffin, 34, is charged with the following offences in relation to all seven robberies:
– Seven counts Robbery
– Conspiracy to commit an indictable offence
– Six counts of possession of a weapon
– Two counts of wearing a disguise
– Twenty-one counts of breach of probation
– Six counts breach of recognizance
Magoffin remains in custody, and his next court date is scheduled for February 22.
