Halogen Software acquired

OTTAWA — It’s a big payday for an Ottawa-based tech company; Halogen Software has agreed to be acquired by a California company for just under $300 million.

The buyer is Saba Software, which is backed by a private equity firm. The offer is $12.50 a share, a 22% premium to yesterday’s closing price but more than 50% higher than in January when Halogen indicated it might be for sale.

Halogen makes software for human resources departments. It has corporate clients around the world.
