Tentative deal reached in Carleton University strike; pickets end

OTTAWA – The union representing teaching assistants and contract instructors at Carleton University have reached a tentative deal with the school.

The deal was announced by one of the strike captains, via a megaphone, to about 30 people walking the picket line off Bronson Ave.

The union has been without a contract since last August. Some of the main issues included salary, job security, class sizes, and tuition rebates for teaching assistants.

The deal still needs to be ratified by CUPE local 4600 members.
