Crews take down Alta Vista dumpster fire

OTTAWA – There are no injuries after a dumpster fire at a high-rise building in the Alta Vista area.
Crews were called to 2400 Virginia Dr. just after 9 p.m., after a 911 call reporting visible smoke on the 10th floor.
A working fire was declared when crews arrived on scene and found heavy smoke in the garbage room.
A dumpster inside was fully involved.
Crews quickly got the dumpster outside and water it down, and had the fire under control by 9:22 p.m.
According to Ottawa Fire Services, crews remained on scene for a time to ventilating the smoke, which had affected most floors.
There is no word on what caused the dumpster fire, or how much damage was caused.
