Man in custody after stabbing in Petawawa

PETAWAWA — A 25-year-old Petawawa man is facing an aggravated assault charge, after a stabbing Tuesday night.

Upper Ottawa Valley OPP were called to the area of Laroche Crescent and Herman Street around 7:30pm, after receiving information that a man had been stabbed in the area.

Police say they found a 51-year-old man, who had been injured with an edged weapon. He was taken to hospital with non-life threatening injuries.

A 25-year-old man was taken into custody at the scene. Police believe he also broke into a residence on Laroche Crescent, and assaulted another man.

That victim was not injured.

Charges against the suspect include aggravated assault.

His name is being withheld to protect the identity of the victim.
