Crews quickly extinguish mattress fire in Centretown

OTTAWA – There are no injuries following a mattress fire near Dundonald Park in Centretown overnight.

Fire crews responded to 568 Somerset Street West around 2:45 a.m. Wednesday, after a 911 call from the building superintendent reporting visible smok on the third floor of the multi-unit residential building.

A working fire was declared when crews arrived.

The fire was limited to the mattress and the fire was cleared by 3:05 a.m.

The building was evacuated, but everyone has since been able to return home.
