Ottawa may see ‘higher than usual’ West Nile Virus activity

OTTAWA — The first mosquitos of the year have tested positive for West Nile Virus, and the city’s public health unit warns that may be a harbinger.

Ottawa Public Health says the first positive test results for West Nile coming so early in the season indicates that 2017 may have higher than usual West Nile Virus activity.

There have been no human cases of West Nile Virus reported so far this year in Ottawa, and one in Ontario.
