Interim injection site to open next Tuesday

OTTAWA — Public health officials say an interim supervised injection site in Lowertown will open its doors early next week.

Today’s announcement confirms that Ottawa Public Health will operate the temporary site inside its building on Clarence Street, in Lowertown, beginning on Tuesday.

The interim site will operate until construction is finished on a permanent site, inside the Sandy Hill Community Health Centre.

The temporary location was approved by the city’s board of health after volunteers began running an unsanctioned pop-up injection site in a Lowertown park, last month.
