Jonathan Pitre making progress; best he’s been in months

MINNESOTA – Ottawa’s ‘Butterfly Child’ is doing much better.
Tina Boileau tells the Ottawa Citizen, Jonathan Pitre is doing the best she has seen in months and that doctors are even talking about discharging him again.
Earlier this month, the 17-year-old was suffering from exhaustion and nausea believed to be caused by gastrointestinal problems.
Boileau tells the paper, doctors are still considering gallbladder surgery, but they’re awaiting results from a liver biopsy and a gallbladder test before deciding on the next course of treatment.
She says his white blood cell count has improved, and she believes he will be on the road to recovery once the gastrointestinal issue is solved.
Pitre is being treated at the Minnesota Masonic Children’s Hospital in the United States, where he has undergone two stem cell transplants to ease the pain of his rare skin condition, EB Simplex.
