OTTAWA – Overdose Prevention Ottawa is seeking provincial funding to get through the winter months.
According to Metro, the group is calling on the Ontario government to dispatch the Emergency Management Assistance Team for the pop-up tent at Raphael Brunet Park.
EMAT has helped a similar site in Toronto get ready for winter, by providing things like heaters.
The Ottawa site has had to close twice this week because of weather and the number of visits to the tent continues to grow.
According to the paper, the site has been used more than 3,000 times.
